Camo

Yeah, right... like I would actually be caught dead in camo print. I am, however, decked out in earth tones and neutrals, much like camo print. Instead of camo or army fatigues, of course I embraced the earthy colors with leopard print shoes. And what would an outfit be without a pop of color?! This pink necklaces adds a nice pop of contrast and fun to this otherwise muted outfit.

Pleats Please

One of the biggest trends this spring is pleats. Pleated skirts, pleated shirts, pleated dresses, you name it... it's pleated and spring ready. Being a sucker for smart trends, I had to whip out this Lovers + Friends pleated mini skirt from Revolve Clothing. I don't tend to love skater skirts on me unless they're thick material or solid, but these vertical stripes elongate my legs rather than creating the typical round illusion of a skater skirt. If you want to highlight one specific piece of your outfit, a good way to do it is by wearing all black like I did. Wearing all black or almost all black is always a win-win situation. You will always look put together and chic. This is also a great way to wear spring pieces in the winter.

Shoe Crush Saturday: Zara High Heel Court Shoes

The fashion world isn't done with pastel pink yet. It's pretty much become the grown-up way of wearing pink for all of us girly women out there that don't want to look like giant barbies in magenta. We all know that Zara is the affordable way of being trendy and looking like you're wearing high fashion and these pumps are no exception. These pointed high heel court shoes with ankle straps from Zara are a fashionable, mature version of the classic mary jane. No more round toes, 1/2" heel, and black and white. These pastel pink heeled pointed toe mary janes are anything, but Sunday school. They're sophisticated, sweet, and perfect for spring. I especially love the sleek cylindrical heel. 

Fall 2014: The Robe Coat

This past fall I was obsessed with the idea of the coatigan. I couldn't possibly fathom something more cozy and awesome than the marriage of two of the best forms of cold-weather apparel. Fall 2014 has something even better in store. What, you ask, could possibly be more comfy and warm than a coatigan? I introduce to you: the robe coat.

Some of the most famous designers out there, ranging from Tory Burch and Christian Siriano to Delpozo and Altuzarra have given us the gift of the robe coat. This is pretty much the socially acceptable, fashionable cousin of the snuggie and I'm crazy about it.

I'm sure lower end, more affordable brands will be adopting this trend come fall, but right now these robe coats will cost you a pretty penny. I've been yearning for the Delpozo version since I first saw it two weeks ago, but that runs a costly $6,375. I don't know about you, but as much as I love these designer versions of the robe coat, I'll wait for the affordable Zara or ASOS versions to come out.

In Full Bloom

It was so absolutely beautiful out today that it almost felt we might actually get spring soon and you know what that means - sundresses, sandals, and sunglasses. The beautiful weather inspired me to wear these graphic abstract floral pants that are clearly meant for spring. It also happens to be a toasty 80 degrees in my office so I tend to dress for that, not for the frigid weather outside. I went all out spring today with these pants, salmon loafers, coral jewelry and a white shirt. I know it's completely nuts and naive of me to think that if I dress for spring, it will come sooner, but hey, a girl's gonna dream. These are the first time I've worn harem pants and I must say, they are officially the most comfortable things that have ever worn. Yes, that's right, they're better than those yoga pants that you don't actually wear to yoga and all the sweatpants you swear are your boyfriend's. Go get a pair of harem pants. Now. I've included a few sick pairs below so go shop.

New York: The Epicenter of Black on Black on Black Fashion

There is nothing that says New York fashion more than black on black on more black with just a little bit of color either in a) your lipstick b) your shoes c) your handbag d) all of the aforementioned. True New Yorkers definitely have an amazing sense of style being that it is the epicenter of fashion and if you had any doubts about that, you must admit that they certainly got something right: black on black with a pop of color is the simplest way to look chic and put together. It may be simple, but it's not easy. Make sure your blacks match before attempting this look or separate them with a belt. I chose these red shoes as my big pop, but I also added some more subtle turquoise with my jewelry.

Spring in Winter

Who says you can't wear sleeveless dresses and d'orsay pumps just because it's snowing and there's another 2 feet of snow on the ground? If anyone says that, its bs. You can absolutely wear warm certain spring silhouettes in winter. This shift dress is a really easy silhouette to winterize. I just added tights and a long sleeved shirt underneath and wore boots for walking outside. Shift dresses aren't necessarily flattering, especially ones that aren't structured, so I added a simple waist belt so as not to let my curves fall to the wayside.

Professional Casual

If you work in a casual dress office like I do, then you may be inclined to wear your comfy jeans and a tee everyday, but you don't have to give in just because you think work clothes are uncomfortable and uptight. Matter of fact is, adding a blazer is the perfect way to go from casual to professional while still being comfortable. It is also a perfect layering piece. If I had worn this slouchy tank alone with these fitted skinny jeans, I'd look more like I was going to a bar or a concert, but by adding a blazer and some simple accessories, this casual outfit becomes work-ready. It also doesn't hurt to wear your comfy shoes to work and swap them out for a kitten heel during the day (which I do everyday). Because let's face it - what real person can walk/take the subway to work in heels?! Certainly not me.

Shoe Crush Saturday: Paul Andrew Zenadia Pumps

So, I've been absolutely obsessed with Paul Andrew shoes lately. He puts a whimsical twist on some classic favorites. These Zenadia pumps will never go out of style. Andrew took a classic silk pointed toe pump, added his signature scalloping at the vamp, and made them spring/summer '14 ready in black and white stripes (because b&w shoes is quite a hot trend right now). These shoes almost seem like oxymorons to me. They're luxe, but also simple. They're classic, but also trend specific. They're bold, but somewhat understated. These pumps are so versatile - they go with any type of pants, skirts, or dresses. Hands down, I'd wear them with some bright bold colors.

The End of an Era

It's official. Like, more official than it was when they declared bankruptcy in January. Loehmann's will be closing for good this Sunday. Sales are not much better than they usually are, but ladies, this is your last chance to pick through the racks and grab some great steals because there truly is no store that will ever compare to Loehmann's and their discounts. Personally, I'd been coveting these $900 rag & bone mulled wine leather jeans which came to Loehmann's for $250 and my mom managed to snag them for me at an 89% discount from retail price for $100. Can't get much better than that... Well, the fact that they fit like a glove makes them a little better. I'm planning all the ways I'm going to wear these while this frigid weather lasts and in upcoming falls and winters.

I'm so excited that I finally got my delivery from Anarchy Street in the mail, which included this kickass ring. You're not gonna want to pound my fist with this bad boy on. I like the way it stands out against my dark wintery knit sweater and medium wash jeans. This outfit is cozy and a little hipster. Striped knit sweater, cigarette jeans, black leather booties, and this stud ring.
