Scary Spice Meets Sporty Spice

I hope the Spice Girls reference isn't before anyone's years; that'd be quite a shame. This look may be a result of my delirium the past few days, but it's so working. The lower half of this outfit (the boyfriend jeans and slip ons) is very boyish like Sporty Spice's feminine athletic style, while the top, a bold leopard print and my crazy hair, is a little more along the lines of Scary Spice and her flawlessly fierce and animalistic style.

Golden Girl

Sometimes you don't need to add bright colors to an outfit to make it exciting. Here's proof: this black and cream outfit is a lot more interesting because of the gold buttons, sparkly gold stripes, gold jewelry, and gold headband. There's no way fall short of chic when you add in lots of gold. It's as good as, well, gold. On one hand the colors of this outfit are very chic and mature, but the indivual pieces put together make for a sweet and youthful look. I'm not trying to look like I'm 30, but I don't want to look like I'm 16. For that reason, I chose these edgier lace-up heeled combat boots and a long blazer that still shows off my waist. It's important to find a good balance between mature and youthful when you're trying to look your age. I think it goes without saying that teens and women in their thirties aim to look like they're in their 20s so keep this style tip in mind.

Equipment, How I Adore You

Oh, Equipment, you make the most perfect blouses. There is nothing like the feeling of a soft, luxurious silk Equipment blouse on your skin. They do run a little more expensive than your average blouse, but they literally fit everybody, they come in amazing designs and colors, the material is unlike anything you could ever imagine, and best of all, they'll last you forever. I got lucky enough to snag my equipment blouses from my mom and grandmother's closets :) Regardless, I highly recommend investing in one. You won't regret it; I promise. I love the unique pattern of this particular blouse. It's almost like something I'd expect to find on beautiful African textiles. I think it looks very exotic and safari-esque paired with this necklace.

Sweetly Spotted

I fell in love with this blue leopard print blouse as soon as I saw it. There are certain forms of leopard print that are classy, and this is one of them. I think atypical leopard print colors also tend to be a little more fashion-forward (or childish, so be careful) regardless of the item. Granted, you wouldn't want to look like a giant Lisa Frank sticker. I'm sorry for all of you who aren't old enough to appreciate the reference. The pastel pink of these pants keeps this outfit fun and doesn't detract from the wildness of this blouse, but it also makes the whole look softer and sweeter, which is why I wore black boots to tie the look together. Try and keep jewelry simple when you're wearing busy prints like I did with my simple gold nameplate necklace.

Top Oscars Runway Looks

The Oscars is the awards show that tops all other awards shows. By that I mean, in terms of fashion, of course. I think every celebrity that walked the red carpet this evening honestly had a "hit" dress. Not a single dress I saw was a miss.

Ever had those moments where you had a picture of an article of clothing you like or something you saw in a magazine that didn't show fashion credits and you wished you knew what it was or where to buy it? Half of the clothes I wear on here are fairly old or I got at Loehmann's and I don't even know where to begin looking for them except for Polyvore, which can be great, but sometimes, just doesn't cut it.

Shoe Crush Saturday: Lanvin Metallic Slip Ons

Slip-on or skater sneakers are a huge trend right now. Although I'm all for comfortable fashion, I've just really not been feeling this trend that is hugely popular with outdoor music festival goers and sk8er bois. Slip ons remind me of my middle and high school days of going to Bamboozle and Warped Tour. These Lanvin slip-ons may actually change my mind about this trend. Even though they are comfortable sneakers, it would be a pretty bad decision to wear these $600 metallic leather sneakers anywhere with mud and drugged out teens and punk rockers. I can imagine rocking these with a pair of cuffed boyfriend jeans and a funky bomber jacket. They're a really sweet, sexy, and mature take on this Vans-inspired trend and I would definitely wear them.
