Peter Pilotto for Target for Moi

I was lucky enough to snag some of the Peter Pilotto for Target collection on it's release Sunday, although I'm still trying to track down this one blazer I'm in love with. This blouse really caught my interest more in the store than it did online. I feel like pictures don't do this collection justice (and maybe that's the reason it didn't fly off the racks - you can also attest that to the fact that Target shoppers are probably not inclined to buy eccentric, vibrant graphic prints - they strike me more as a simple style crowd). These prints are wildly awesome and for those that like to keep it a little more simple than mixing prints like Pilotto and Target did for their ad campaigns, you can pair individual pieces with solids like I did here. You could even pair it with a simple blue jean or black trouser. I, on the other hand, am excited to pair the other pieces I got in some more authentically Peter Pilotto ways.

Working Girl

This outfit is exactly what I picture when I think of a woman that works in an office. I hate to be that standard, but at the same time, navy and black isn't necessarily a combination most typical non-fashion-conscious women would wear, especially not with a blood orange lip and gigantic gold ball earrings. I picture that stereotypical working woman in the same silhouettes, but in a variation of black, white, and brown. Despite this being a very working woman style, it's also very chic, sophisticated, and flattering on any body type. That's why it's a classic - button-up blouse and a pencil skirt. Some things never go out of style for a reason. My favorite part of this outfit, honestly, is that I practically stole this $90 Ann Taylor skirt for only $12. Now that's a shopping win.

Shoe Crush Saturday: Saint Laurent Ankle Wrap Sandal

Sorry about the delay in my Shoe Crush Saturday post; I was on vacation this weekend. I've been wanting to post these sandals for awhile now. These Saint Laurent Mid-Heel Ankle-Wrap Studded Sandal is the perfect classic for spring. Every woman needs classic nude pumps, one pair for winter, one for spring/summer and these are my recommendation for you. They may be a little pricey, but a classic good-quality two strap nude sandal will last you quite a long time and they'll be your go-to shoe for almost any occasion. I've been looking for a great pair of two-strap sandals myself, and if I had $1,000 laying around, these would definitely be my first choice. I love that these are a little more fun than the typical nude pump with the silver studs. These are gorgeous calfskin leather and have a comfortable 3 1/2" heel.

Casual Friday

It's NYFW and I should find that inspirational to dress even better than usual this week, but it's been a long week at work and I decided to embrace "Casual Friday" instead. This is a pretty simple look - loose black 3/4 sleeve shirt and bootcut jeans. It's a smart decision to wear bootcut jeans with a loose top if you have a curvier body type so your body looks proportionate. I glammed it up a little, but not too much, with a statement necklace and a thin gold headband.

Knits

Sometimes, when you have what some might consider "too many" clothes, some great pieces get lost in your closet. This skirt is one of those great pieces. It's really a fall color, but it's knit and fairly warm. The colors of my skirt and camel cashmere sweater are definitely a perfect pair and something you'd see on a fall runway. I've said this before, but it's important, when you have one looser thing on to pair it with something more fitted like I did with this flare skirt and fitted sweater.

Jacquard Tank

I honestly have to say that I have no idea what the f*** I'm wearing today. This weather is bumming me out hardcore and my freshly polished toes just want to see the light of day again in some brightly colored sandals. I'm thankful this outfit honestly even matches and makes sense together. It's just one of those days when the weather is so nasty that you have no motivation to be cute and you wear your casual clothes, hence the zip-up hooded sweatshirt. It may be a sweatshirt, but in true fashionista style, it's cashmere. I chose very autumnal colors with this burnt orange cashmere and the tan jacquard tank. Autumnal (warm) colors look better with gold accessories so I went with some of my favorite pieces: white and yellow gold greek fret earrings and a gold greek fret bangle.

Princess Leia meets Mime meets Real World

I couldn't think of a good title for this post, but I think what I landed on sums up today's look pretty accurately. My hairstyle's a little quirky today, a kind of messy Princess Leia look, which is sometimes how I wear my hair when I'm really bored of wearing it down/in a bun. I think it looks really cute and sweet, but still somewhat artsy with this thick black and white striped tee and faux leather skirt. The jacket adds more sophistication to this outfit and it's also a great layering piece for cold weather, whereas cardigans are sometimes just not quite warm enough. I finished this look with my Rebecca Minkoff haircalf booties that pick up the colors in the rest of my look and plays with stripes again.
